Greater Than Games is a St. Louis-based tabletop game publisher with over fifteen years of experience designing, developing, and publishing games that bring people together. Founded in 2011, the company has built a reputation for richly themed, deeply replayable titles that reward both new players and dedicated hobbyists — games that don’t just sit on shelves, but actually get played.
The company’s catalog spans more than fifty titles across a range of genres and player counts, from the award-winning cooperative comic book card game Sentinels of the Multiverse and its expansive Sentinel Comics universe to licensed party games, family titles, richly thematic and strategically deep cooperative games, and everything in between. Greater Than Games has always believed that the best games are the ones that create stories — and that the best stories happen around a table, with people who want to be there.
A Legacy of Play
Greater Than Games was founded by Christopher Badell, Adam Rebottaro, and Paul Bender with a single game and an enormous amount of stubbornness. Sentinels of the Multiverse, their flagship game, introduced players to a sprawling original superhero universe built from the ground up — and found an audience that grew into a devoted community spanning the globe. What began as a passion project became a full publishing house, and that publishing house became something people genuinely cared about.
Over the following decade, Greater Than Games expanded its catalog and its team, publishing titles across multiple genres while maintaining a consistent commitment to quality, thematics, and player experience. The Sentinel Comics universe grew alongside the company, eventually encompassing a full tabletop roleplaying game, podcasts, and a long-running community that continues to engage deeply with the fiction and the games alike.
In 2021, Greater Than Games was acquired by Flat River Group, a move intended to accelerate growth in the tabletop market. The partnership ultimately proved difficult to sustain amid broader industry pressures, and in April 2025, operations were significantly reduced. In April 2026, Handelabra Games — the video game studio behind the acclaimed digital adaptations of Sentinels of the Multiverse — acquired the Greater Than Games brand and the full Sentinel Comics IP, with the shared goal of returning both to the hands of people who know them best.
A New Chapter
Today, Greater Than Games is back where it started: with its founders.
Christopher Badell and Paul Bender have reacquired the company and returned it to independent operation, joined by a core team of GTG veterans who never really left the work behind. The team includes SaRae Henderson (Art Director), Matthew Kroll (Creative Director), and Katie Nale (Chief Operating Officer) — people who have spent years building the Greater Than Games brand and who are, frankly, very good at it.
Adam Rebottaro, original artist and co-creator of Sentinel Comics, rejoins the work as a creative collaborator, helping to shape the next generation of Sentinel Comics releases alongside Badell. The Multiverse is in good hands.
What We Make
Greater Than Games publishes games that are designed to be experienced, not merely played. The company’s titles tend to be thematically rich, mechanically cohesive, and built for replayability — whether that’s a cooperative card game that unfolds differently every session, a party game that works best when someone at the table is embarrassingly bad at keeping a straight face, or a roleplaying game that trusts its players to build something remarkable together.
Our Mission
Greater Than Games exists to make games that matter to the people who play them. Not every game needs to change someone’s life, but every game should be worth the time it takes to learn — and worth coming back to. We make games for people who love games, and for people who are about to discover their love of games.
We take our work seriously. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. And we believe, without reservation, that the world is better when more people get to Play Greater.
